Christmas tree farmers across the High Country stacked over 1000 trees for delivery to military service personnel and their families at the Cline Church Nursery, then, yesterday morning, JROTC members from Ashe High School started the task of loading trees onto FedEx trailers for shipment. The effort is a nationwide movement lead by FedEx to give military free trees for the holidays, and the first load from here will go to Marines at Camp Lejeune, then Wednesday, to soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas. State Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler was at Cline Church Nursery for the event.  He marveled at the giving of High Country growers, again giving well above the 800-tree target.
