Fraser fir Christmas tree growers have started this year’s harvest. They will ship a fresh product to their customers this year. Christmas trees need water and cold nighttime temperatures to hold up well after harvest. Weather provided plenty of rain, cold nights, and frosty mornings giving NC Fraser firs just what they needed.
Every night that temperatures dip into the mid-thirties, the trees increase their dormancy a little bit more. When trees become dormant, they shut down and lose less moisture from their foliage. They stay fresher as they make their journey to consumers’ homes.
